British Science Week & International Women's Day

British Science Week It's British Science Week! I'm so excited once again because I will be meeting doctors and doing my own experiments at home. This is thanks to my amazing school (shoutout to my classmates). British Science Week begins on Fri 5 March and ends (sadly) Sun 14 March. What luck that my two most favourite weeks of the year were in a row!  Visit  British Science Week  for info, activities and a great poster competition! Here is a fun experiment to do at home: Lava Lamp! You will need: Vegetable Oil Water  Food colouring Original Alka Seltzer tablets Small cup or container Glass A tray if necessary  To begin with, you will need to fill 1/2 a cup of water with food colouring. Take the tablets and break them into 2 or 3 pieces. Place these in a small cup or container and put them to the side. Fill a glass with about 3/4 full of vegetable oil. Then pour in the coloured water until the liquid in the glass is about 1-2 inches from the top. You don...

World Book Week

World Book Week It's World Book Week! For me, the best week of the year! Who wouldn't want a whole week dedicated to books and reading? (Well, I can actually name quite a few people who don't really care about World Book Week but they're missing out!) It is the beginning of a new month full of new books and what better way to start it of by dressing up as your favourite character, looking back on classics and hearing from the great authors? It's like Christmas! World Book Week commences on 1st of March and lasts until the 5th of March. Thursday 4th March is the big day as it is the actual World Book Day. Character Costume  On Thursday 4 March, loads of people all over the UK will be dressing up as characters and sharing their love of reading. Even though I am a huge book fan, I still don't know who to dress up as! This is the biggest decision of my life... Harry Potter characters are great and iconic but everyone dres...

Learning a New Language

Image
Learning a New Language  Firstly, you got to start with the basics of learning a language: commitment! You got to commit to a language to learn it. You can’t expect to be speaking fluently after one hour of a lesson. It takes time! I will be going through steps and top tips to learn a new language. Let’s get straight into it! Getting started When you start learning a language, you have to decide which language you are going to want to learn. It could be Greek, Spanish, Italian, Mandarin or any other language out of the 6,500 that there are.  You will also need to plan out a good schedule for yourself (as in having the right times to study so that it won't clash with work life.) You might want to only study once a week or dedicate yourself to do one hour every day. Whatever you choose, it will help you reach your goal. I personally, do one hour every day or more as I have really pushed myself to learn Italian. All I have to say is to work when you want to ...

February reading

February Reading                                                            I've gotten back into reading! I'm so happy to be reading non-stop and having to buy more books! Although, my pocket money may drop but, if it's for books, it's worth it. My goal was to read 10 books this month and I'm acing that. I'm on my tenth book and I'm going faster than expected. I know I've only just gotten back into reading (so you may be thinking, why such high standards? but I know what I'm capable of and this is no challenge.) but I am so into it. If you ever see a person with their head stuck in a book, it will most likely be me! February Books: 1. The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole Aged 13 3/4.  2. The London Eye Mystery 3. The Explorer 4. The Good Thieves 5. Running for Gold 6. Murder Most Unladylike 7. Arsenic for Tea 8. First Class Murder ...
